How two-speed works:
We change how the motor’s wires are connected to create two different magnetic fields (“pole pairs”). This gives you two speeds from one motor.

Two simple designs to choose from:

1. Single Winding Two Speed Induction Motor (Most Common)

Simple & Cost-Friendly
One set of wires inside the motor
Switch speeds by changing the wiring connection (Y or △)
Speed Ratio: Usually 2:1 (e.g., 2/4 poles, 4/8 poles)

2. Dual Independent Windings Two Speed Induction Motor

Flexible & Optimized
Two separate sets of wires inside the motor
Each wire set is tuned for one specific speed
Switch speeds with a selector switch

Can you make two speed motors for fan?

Yes, we can produce two speed motors for fan, single phase motor and three phase motor, in standard motor housing, or PAD mounting. TEAO or TENV or TEFC.

How to choose multi speed motor or permanent magnet motor?

From motor cost: two speed motor is cheaper, permanent magnet motor is more expensive (with controller).

For motor control: two speed motor can be used at two different speed, permanent magnet motor is with a larger speed range and has a good performance at very low speed.

From motor efficiency: permanent magnet motor can reach IE4 and IE5 efficiency.
